Hi,

Maybe I'm in the wrong place but I'm a GNOME desktop user and eventually I

Would attending GUADEC benefit me in any way, even if I'm just a plain user?
Apart from meeting very nice people.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

This is such a great question, thank you for posting it on the mailing
list. I think attending GUADEC is one of the best ways to familiarize
yourself with the platform, but also be able to meet the maintainers
and get to know them at a personal level. This then gets reflected in
bug reports that you might file later. This is also your opportunity
to tell platform developers your needs as a developer. For instance,
perhaps there is a gap that is missing in one of the libraries. If
you can formulate a good argument for inclusion they could work with
you on creating that feature. Resources are tight, so it's important
that you are able to communicate that such a feature will improve the
platform. But that is a discussion best done in person than say over
a bug report or on a mailing list.

I hope that you will consider attending!

Warm regards,
sri
