An alternative to try (I have not been to Turkey and unfortunately
won't be at Guadec) is a bank ATM cash machine -- often these give
the best rate. Since there is usually a flat fee plus a commission,
it usually works out more expensive to change money every day than to
get several days' worth at a time. On the other hand, don't walk
around with an obviously fat wallet or purse full of cash :-)
