Some of bloggers on planet.gnome.org have written about taxi drivers, 
and there's an effective solution to potential issues (speed, 
overcharging etc).

All taxis have their ID numbers on their front-left door. Some of the 
taxis have more: They work under supervision and control of "taxi 
stops", and such taxis have the "sign" (i.e name and phone number) of 
the "taxi stop" just above the ID number (on the front-left door).

If you cannot see a taxi stop sign, that particular taxi works on his own.

You got it right: Do your best to choose a taxi with a sign.
