We need to build a press team. Many people has asked about it, mainly at #guadec or private email. I've sent all of them here, so I guess at least they will be reading. :) We have already most of the ingredients for a successful event, now it's time to make all this heard. Blogging is not enough, we have the biggest GNOME event happening in a place whit big GNOME deployments and plans going on. In short, we need to get to 500 participants. The 250 or so belonging to "the community" are mostly there, the rest are people coming from the outskirts and the outside. The GNOME project needs to strike the mass media as well (not the big headlines but why not the IT etc pages/minutes) and this GUADEC is a very good chance. We also need to make the most from our relationships with our media partners. Also, we need a good coverage during the GUADEC days, for the media, the free software users and developers and the GNOMErs that could not make it. We achieve this by inviting journalists, treat them good, and reporting ourselves. By now we have Andy Wingo coordinating the coverage, Fernando San Martín in charge of the press/VIP room, Javier Vázquez willing to help contacting the Spanish press... who else? And who coordinates. -- Quim Gil /// http://desdeamericaconamor.org | http://guadec.org
