Hello all out there,
a small question for you: would anyone mind if we'd also join the
project donation stuff from sf.net?

Dear SourceForge.net Developer,
My name is Patrick McGovern and I manage SourceForge.net. You are
receiving this email because you are an admin of one or more projects on
SF.NET.
I wanted to give you an update on the project donation program. It's
going well. More and more projects are opting-in to receive donations
from the Open Source Community.
We have now added an icon (gear with a dollar sign) that is displayed
next to any project that has turned 'on' donations. (You can turn on
donations by going to the admin section of your project) An example of
this icon at work can be seen here:
http://sourceforge.net/top/mostactive.php?type=week
This icon alerts users of your software that you are activity looking
for financial support.
We now also list the most recent donors on the summary page. A good
example is this page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/egroupware/
Today I want to tell you about a new feature: The ability to list your
most recent donors on your project webspace, the part of SourceForge.net
you directly control. The SF.NET team has created both a RSS feed and
a HTML feed that will assist you in displaying the most recent
supporters of your project.
The implementation is straight forward. You can read about it here:
https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=1502
&group_id=1#sampledonor
or here: (shorter URL to cut down on word wrap issues)
http://tinyurl.com/3glq4
A demo of the new feature can be viewed here (this is for the project
Egroupware):
http://sourceforge.net/export/html_projdonors.php?group_id=78745&button=
bottom&show_comments=1
or
http://tinyurl.com/2mmpv
Approximately 2/3's of SourceForge.net's traffic is from project web
pages, hence this new feature will put the most eyeballs in front of
your message that you are looking for financial support. It also brings
to the attention, on your site, those donors who have already helped
you. As a donor, nothing feels better then getting some form of
recognition, and this is a way to give your donors a pat-on-the-back for
their support.
I hope you find this new feature useful. Thank you for being a part of
SourceForge.net.
If you have any questions regarding this, please don't hesitate to email
me at pat sf net
Thank you.
Pat-
