I think, I'll do it and make a release 0.39.1 of gtranslator in the next week -- I can't say you a definitive date, but I'd say Wednesday. It contains some patches, fixes from other persons nothing new, just some fixes for cross-platform compiling and 2, 3 crash fixes for some circumstances.
In short words: it's surely worth trying to update your version at home. I have got serious problems here with the messages table but as you/noone another did complain about it, I guess it could be a personal problem and if it works for you, it's good. It doesn't need to work for me..
