Generic - Menu Class

Hello.
I am trying to create a generic pull down menu. The program compiled, 
but when I added a line it got stock:
Following the example 
(file:///winmachine/gtkmm-2.4/docs/tutorial/html/sec-menus-examples.html#figure-menus-mainmenu) 
I did not add all the menu items but just one.
After adding this one item to the menu, I realize that, because this 
example class derives from Gtk::Window, there is a call 
toadd_accel_group(m_refUIManager->get_accel_group());
my class (jme::Menu) however derives from Gtk::VBox.
I need a generic menu bar and widget-bar because my application will 
have many windows and all of the windows will have the same menu, is 
there a way to create generic menues?
