Drag and drop from external source.

Hello. I'm implementing drag and drop for my application.
But the drag source is from outside the application.
How can I know which data does the source give me?

I want to be able to get data from the desktop, nautilus and so
on into my application.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
