button with a widget inside... how to get button to react to click?

Imagine this,   I have some radio  buttons with little OpenGL displays 
in them.  I can click on the radio button (outside the OpenGL display) 
and the button reacts.   If I click on the widget inside the button, 
however, nothing happens.  I would like to have the button react 
regardless of where it is clicked.   How do I do this?
