As the owner of Openismus, who do work around GTK+ and gtkmm, I can say
that there is a profit motive even if it's not as direct as charging for
licences.

Could you please mention these features in a bug in bugzilla? Where we
think we know how something should work, we'd like to add it to the
book.

Yeah, that's very annoying.
