Gtkmm is not alone. It depends on the latest versions of glib-2.14, gtk
+-2.12, glibmm-2.14 and other stuff. If you want to stick to ubuntu 6.10
you have to backport all those components, which can be a great task. I
think you'd better upgrade to the latest ubuntu 7.10, which ships with
gtkmm-2.12.
