gtkmm requires Visual Studio/C++ 2005 to circumvent a C++ bug
described in this bugzilla entry

gtkmm probably can be built with Visual Studio 2003 but you might run
into runtime errors one day or another.

May I recommend you use the freely available Visual C++ express 2005 ?
