The icon needs to be a resource of your program. Assuming you are using
the mingw compiler you therefore need a .rc file that roughly looks like
this:
A ICON MOVEABLE PURE LOADONCALL DISCARDABLE "path/to/your.ico"
Then you need to compile it using windres
windres -i path/to/your.rc --input-format=rc -o path/to/result.res -O coff
The resulting .res file can then be linked along with the .o files to
generate the binary.
