As I mailed you earlier, you could override the on_delete_event. See:
http://www.gtkmm.org/docs/gtkmm-2.4/docs/reference/html/classGtk_1_1Window.html

Under detailed description it notes: ...Override on_delete_event() to
stop this.

If you want to connect it to a signal use:
Glib::SignalProxy1<bool,GdkEventAny*> Gtk::Widget::signal_delete_event()
