Version: unspecified

        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED

Please describe the problem:
The tutorial contains a section about prepackaged binaries of gtkmm in va=
rious
linux distributions. This section indicates that packages are only avail=
able
for Debian, but this is not true any longer. I've worked up a patch that=
just
mentions that gtkmm is available in the official repositories of many
distributions and then points them to the package management system on th=
eir
distribution instead of attempting to describe the exact installation com=
mands
on each distribution (e.g. apt-get install libgtkmm2.4-dev). I think thi=
s will
be more maintainable (and since I don't know the exact commands for insta=
lling
it on Mandriva / Suse, etc. If you think it would be a good idea to keep=
the
command-line stuff in there, it can be added back in, though.

This new one should be clean.

This is listed as a TODO in the tutorial. The screenshot already exists =
in
CVS, so this is simply a patch to link to it from the documentation.

Summary: Use an XML entity for the name of the project in the

I've noticed that a few GNOME help files define an XML entity for their p=
roject
/ program name and then use that entity whenever the program name needs t=
o be
referenced in the documentation. I think this is a good idea since it al=
lows
you to be very consistent in what you call your project (capitalization,
formatting, markup, etc.). So I've created an XML entity named >kmm; w=
hich I
think should be used whenever referring explicitly to gtkmm in the tutori=
al
documentation. The result of this is that anywhere you use >kmm;, it w=
ill
result in the docbook markup '<application>gtkmm</application>' (hopefull=
y
bugzilla escapes the markup), and then you can style the project name how=
ever
you want in the html output (i.e. bold, monospaced, whatever). Also if y=
ou
ever decide that it should be spelled GTKmm instead of gtkmm, you'd only =
have
to change it in one place (the entity declaration). I noticed that the v=
ast
majority of times the name gtkmm was used in the document it was just a p=
lain
text 'gtkmm', but there were quite a few times where it was wrapped in th=
e
docbook 'literal' tag. So this is a very minor change, but it's one that=
I
think improves consistency and maintainability. I'll attach a patch
implementing it. Let me know what you think.
