Wow...
Really sorry about wasting the list's time, must have been late. Tried
everything I found in the Gnome::Conf (wrap init, etc), and must have
completely browsed over Gnome::Conf::init().
Just posting this to list so its archived in case someone else can't read
one night...

Sounds like you need to use Gnome::Main rather than Gtk::Main.
