static libraries in RPMs

There's been discussions on the Fedora Extras mailing list about stopping
packaging static libraries in development RPMs (in our case, it would affect
all the XXmm-devel rpms). I thought i'd do a quick survey here, does anyone
here use them or care about them ? Or is everyone happy with dynamic libraries
only ?
