There's also a Glib::filename_to_utf8().  I'm not sure what the
differences are, though.  Perhaps you can have different locale and
disc encodings?

Well, you can use all those other neat characters, like symbols,
proper „quotes”.

It works fine for me.  That's probably an issue with the Windows IRC
client.
