I recommend the get_widget_derived() technique:
http://www.gtkmm.org/docs/gtkmm-2.4/docs/tutorial/html/ch19s03.html
However, I know that Daniel Elstner used the Glade creation-function
technique in regexxer. He probably did use extern "C".
