its certainly theoretically possible, but AFAIK there is no ready-made
widget to do it. 

you should probably take a look at the mplayer-plugin as the closest
thing to what you want. its not a widget, but it does accept the XID of
an X Window (which can be obtained via gdk), and displays the video in
that window.
