I know you were joking, just forgot to put the smiley somewhere :P

the "efficiency" i referred to meaned short, clean code. speed is not
very important since the tree wil hold <20 rows.

But don't worry, in the meanwhile i'm almost finished with implementing
a custom cellrenderer. You were right, it's not that much effort.
