I think theoretically it does, as long as that compiler uses the same debugging symbol format gcc uses. (see man gcc for the same of that format, can't remember).

I tried the windows version of strip on an exacutable compiled with vb6 ,
that didn't work (not that i expected it to)

No that won't work, and it won't work on a VC-generated executable.
