[gtkmm] Static gtkmm over shared gtk?

Hello,

I am wondering around the possibility of statically build a gtkmm based
application leaving gtk+ out of it, in order to have smaller file size.

My motivation is that (not too!) old Linuxes don't have gtkmm libs by
default.

Is that impossible or dificult? Is that worthy? Any comments?
