[gtkmm] How to put a window over all the desktop stuff?

I've a main window, wich is a popup window, and I want it to get all the 
viewable area of the display.

All works well until the user clicks the mouse, in that moment the panel of 
the GNOME desktop appears.

Is there a way to maintain the window up of all the desktop stuff?

The idea is to have only the application on the window.
