[gtkmm] gdb errors with binary linked with gtkmm on solaris 8

I am running into a problem that is really a gdb bug but it shows up annoyingly when
trying to debug an application linked with the gtkmm library on solaris 8.

I'm using gcc 3.2 and gdb 5.3. My application is linked with gtkmm-2.2.0. When running
it through gdb, I get gdb internal errors similar to those reported in

    http://sources.redhat.com/ml/gdb-prs/2002-q3/msg00124.html

I have been able to remove some of the errors by adding dummy global ints to source files in various libraries (atkmm, pangomm, gtkmm) but I still get errors (although fewer).
Somehow that doesn't sound like the best strategy...

Has anyone out there found a way to solve or avoid this problem on solaris 8?

Thanks

Pierre M.
