[GtkGLExt] Overwriting images

I'm having trouble with images attached to a table.
The sequence:

1)    create a pixmap
2)    gtk_widget_show( pixmap );
3)    gtk_table_attach() pixmap to table

works fine the first time, but if I try to repeat it to show a different 
image in the same place nothing happens. Calling gtk_widget_destroy( 
pixmap ) before overwriting works once and then nothing happens.

Where's my blunder?
