Yes, I've seen your reports and I've reproduced the problem.  It seems
to be caused by an interaction with Glib::Object::_LazyLoader.  Your
proposed solution disables AUTOLOAD lookups, which fixes this issue but
also precludes people from using AUTOLOAD to implement vfuncs.  So...
I'm not sure yet.  Need to look at it in more detail.
