Can't read SVG icon

I've got some icons in SVG format which work perfectly well on my
Feisty box at home.

In the sandbox on this RH box, when I try to load them,

$icon = Gtk2::Gdk::Pixbuf->new_from_file($path);

gives me

Couldn't recognise the image file format for file './stock-rotate-90.svg'.

$ pkg-config --modversion gdk-pixbuf-2.0
2.10.11

Am I missing some SVG backend somewhere?

Or did I forget a compilation option?
