So, my questions (enough with the intro) are this:
- any up2date win32 gtkperl & perl glade2 binary packages around ?
- if not, any explicit guidelines on how to build them anywhere ?
- if not, any guidelines at all ?
- if not, where should i start ?
Arnold Putz has recently (e.g., june or so) created activestate PPMs of
Gtk2 and Glib 1.043. I do not personally know of win32 binaries for
Gtk2::GladeXML.
i have posted to the list at least twice instructions on how to set up
the build environment on win32 to get gtk2-perl to compile, but have
personally never had success creating binary packages (i just don't
really know what i'm doing in that arena).
so, the answer to both questions is "check the archives". use google
to do it, as the search facility on lists.gnome.org has been broken for
a very long time.
I began installing devel stuff on my win32 virtual machine
(previously there only for testing), meaning cygwin, gtk runtime and
friends ( http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/downloads.html ), mingw.
Next step is trying to compile things. But before that, i had to check
if these things are already done by someone else, as compiling
gtk/glib/xs code on win32 may be a bit more complex job than expected.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
a few moments of googling reveals:
http://eyck.forumakad.pl/~eyck/log/Quests/Gtk2.Perl.Win32.desktop.html
(a little outdated, but still largely relevant --- the patch listed on
sourceforge for Gtk2-1.00 is still good and necessary)
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-perl-list/2003-July/msg00134.html
if you have any more questions (i'm sure you will ;-) then try to catch
me in irc after about 7pm EDT.
