minor enhancements for Gtk2

major bugfix for Glib (handle exceptions without crashing)


if you use perl exceptions (e.g., die/croak) in your callback code and 
do not catch them within that callback, beware that the behavior has 
changed.  since it was not previously possible to do that without 
crashing, i think you're safe.  :-)
