The PDL module also includes an OpenGL interface which seems to be much
more up to date and functional. I haven´t looked into what it would
take to port GtkGLArea to that version, but you might consider it. It
doesn´t seem like the other OpenGL modules are being actively supported.

hi ..
I installed the GtkGLArea debian packages, and tried
to use the two examples, but I saw that I needed OpenGL
module to get them to work.
But the OpenGL Module is somehow broken:
CPAN.pm: Going to build K/KJ/KJALB/OpenGL-0.5.tar.gz
search for the OpenGL-0.53 module. This should work. But it's not
available with the CPAN module, but you can search for it on
search.cpan.org
