Need some inputs for GtkFileChooser

Hi All,
I have 3 GtkFileChoosers on a dialog, and i am trying to change the current directory of the other two choosers based on the directory chosen by the user on the chooser.
What is the best way to do this?

I have been trying to use the selection-changed signal, but that is already tied to some other callback, and changing it causes a race condition.

So what would be the best way to attack this problem?
