drawing becomes all black on windows/vs2005

Hi all,

I had written code that draws to a GTK Layout widget in C and it works
fine under Linux, but I just built it for Windows with Visual Studio
2005 using the GTK libs available at gimp-vs.sf.net, and it's entirely
black. I'm going to begin investigating immediately, but as no
possibility was obvious to me, I thought I might ask the list if there
was a known problem or common mistake that might lead to this sort of
problem.
