The reason is that you have version 2.2.4 of Gtk+ and
version at least 2.6.0 is required to build the program
(that's incidentally what the error message says).

Install the required (or newer) version of Gtk+. This will
not be trivial as 9.0 is ancient and therefore some
dependencies of Gtk+ 2.6 (and their dependencies, etc.) will
not be met either.
