Either:
- Use a released version of GTK+ (like 2.6.4)
- Or build build Pango from CVS with Cairo support.
There is a 'gtk28' moduleset in jhbuild
(http://www.jamesh.id.au/software/jhbuild/) if you really want to build
the unstable CVS code.
