problem: install gtk 2.4

hello,

i want to install gtk 2.4, but i get always the error that the library
libpangoxft... is missing. 1.5 is the last version of pango i installed and
there is no libpangoxft library included. What should i do to get this file.
I want to install also other programs which also need this library.
