You have multiple versions of GLib on your system; this takes a lot of
experience to get right. Probably the simplest thing to do is to use
a build script like garnome (google will give you more info) that is
set up to properly encapsulate the new build.
Or, quick-and-dirty if you don't mind messing up your system is
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc
and just write over the system installation. This can, of course,
cause arbitrarily bad problems if something is wrong with the new
version.
