I'm agree that list contains hundreds of such messages, so here's 
another idea - maybe someone
will try to index ("compile","install" words in the subject line will 
help to hit ~90%) gtk-list on
this topic and put links on www.gtk.org and README file in tarball ? 
Additinal step - sort this
by target arch/version/etc ...
