compiling gtk+ 2.2.4

hi
some days ago i had problem configuring gtk+ 2.2.4
that issu was resolved after installing some
dependencies.

now however i get the following when i make gtk+.
make complains that it cannot recognise the file
format on stock_add_16.png.

i have installed latest
atk, blib, pango and libs for tiff, jpeg, png

i also tried compiling using gmake insead of make, but
still no luck.
i cannot see anything else that i have missed and
would like a hint on what to do next.
