How to Clear and Set text content of GtkTextView?

Hi,
I use gtk+ to develope a program.
This program need to get data from database(MySQL) and restore data to
database.
I use GtkTextView to show comments context.
First, i need to clear the text content of GtkTextView,
Second, get data from database, and set content to GtkTextView..

Can anyone tell me how should i do,please...
Or is there any example code for unstanding GtkTextView.
There are no infos on Gtk+ tutorial..
