ethereal problem with gtkarg.c

I am attempting to run ethereal on a Solaris 8 platform and get the
follwoing message in a gdb stcktrace:
gtkarg.c: No such file or directory
I have seen postings which suggest that the libICE library was patched
incorrectly, does anyone have a workround for the problem?
