You should use
gtk_label_get(GTK_LABEL(GTK_BIN(button)->child), &label );
gtk_label_set(GTK_LABEL(GTK_BIN(button)->child), label );
Since GtkLabel contains GtkLabel as a child so you have to use
this above line.
