After Compilation...?

Hi,
I downloaded the GTK tutorial and got busy writing and compiling the helloworld
prog. It seemed to compile with no errors but...
How do i actually 'run' the compiled program?
I ended up with a file in my directoy called helloworld, which i imagine is
the executable.
What commands do i need to execute the $%%$% thing...?
