For programming you might have a closer look at the tutorial at
http://www.gtk.org
The tutorial
might also be included in your system. In SuSE 7.0 it's called
„gtk-doc“. I think there's also an advise for compiling. If
you want a tool for creating the GUI you can take „Glade“
either from TuxFinder http://www.tuxfinder.com
, from FreshMeat http://www.freshmeat.net
or from it's new homepage (I think it is http://www.glade.gnome.org
- but I'm not sure). I'd recomment you to learn the GTK api at first
and then – if you want to – use Glade.
