Use the GtkCanvas object. Or, if you're really feeling masochistic,
use its original incarnation, the GnomeCanvas, which will require that
you link against all the GNOME UI libs.

the GtkCanvas. Its the greatest thing since whole wheat raisin-pecan
sourdough sliced bread.
