Icons

Is there a way to assign an icon to an applicaton?
My window manager (fvwm2) displays an icon that
I can double-click on after I've minimized the app
to pop it back up. I've seen many applications that
have the icon as part of the program (mozilla,
vmware, etc). How can I assign an icon to my program?
