	Hi,

	Try before installing gtk+-1.2.8-1.i386.rpm to install its devel
version (with rpm -U).

	Hope this works.

I downloaded gtk+-1.2.8-1.i386.rpm intending to install it on my
RedHat Linux system.  I entered
rpm -i gtk+-1.2.8-1.i386.rpm
and got the following errors:

I tried renaming all occurances of gtk to gtkold but that didn't help.
I can't find an earlier rpm to uninstall.  When I tried
rpm -U gtk+-1.2.8-1.i386.rpm
I got:
error: failed dependencies:
 gtk+ = 1.2.3 is needed by gtk+-devel-1.2.3-1
When I tried
rpm -e gtk+-devel-1.2.3-1
I got
error: removing these packages would break dependencies:
 gtk+-devel is needed by gimp-devel-1.0.4-3
 gtk+-devel is needed by gnome-games-devel-1.0.2-11
 gtk+-devel is needed by gnome-libs-devel-1.0.10-2
 gtk+-devel is needed by imlib-devel-1.9.5-5

I am baffled.
