Anonymous CVS?

Sorry for sending this here; if there's a better place, just point me

What am I doing wrong here?
[dereks@localhost working]$ export CVSROOT=':pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.gnome.org:/cvs/gnome'
[dereks@localhost working]$ cvs login
(Logging in to anonymous@anoncvs.gnome.org)
CVS password: (I just hit ENTER here)
cvs [login aborted]: connect to anoncvs.gnome.org:2401 failed: Connection
refused
