alignment question

Hi. I'm just getting started with gtk, so I apologize if this is a dopey
question.

I have a frame with two columns and a large number of rows. The first
column of each row is a label. I would like the label to be aligned
against the left edge its cell.

Right now, I do this by putting an hbox in each of these cells and then
putting the label inside that hbox. This seems a bit baroque to me, so I
would like to ask if there's a better way.
