The color specs follow the X standard for numerically specifying a
color. You need a sharp sign (#) in front of the six digits.
Pseudo-patch follows:
gtk_rc_parse_string("style \"background\"\n"
"{\n"
- "bg[NORMAL] = \"646464\"\n"
+ "bg[NORMAL] = \"+646464\"\n"
"}"
"widget_class \"*\" style \"background\""
